Maybe I'll do this again

It's been more than a long time since I've blogged, but today I made a switch from FireFox to Chrome and it suddenly became a lot easier to get here - maybe I could start again? I do keep a daily journal in written form, but that's different - and VERY private. It's mainly a aid memoir for me because I tend to forget what has happened almost before it has. Some of it could transfer to here though I guess - share some of my insights with the world.

At the moment AV is my main concern. I'd been so excited that politics could change ever since the coalition arrived with the Lib Dem terms of a referendum. However the 'No' campaign seems to be picking up more speed than I would have ever imagined; something I don't really understand. Surely no one can really want politics to continue on the basis that it is at the moment? I see AV as only the start to change, as the systems we have at the moment from local to national are all wrong to me, especially when political party ethics dominate so highly even at a very local level. For example, on Thursday we are voting in the AV referendum and for local and parish elections, yet the house up the road has an enormous 'Conservative' placard out side their house - why? What difference does it make what party a representative is from, surely it matters far more that they do a good job for the local community. Although that seems to be the real issue. Around here you could put Mr Blobby or even Hitler, in fact anything at all, up as a Conservative and they would get in. Is it ignorance? Is it hereditary compulsion? Who knows, but it's wrong. I don't believe that national and party politics should have anything to do with local governing bodies. Parish and local councils should be voted in on the basis of how well they help in the local community and not on party alliances, MPs are the first and only level of government that needs this alliance for the sway of the country, then things might actually get done!
Tired, waffling, going to stop as not making sense anymore
